Multiple Configurations
Priefert Panel Walkers are available in 4-horse, 6-horse, or 8-horse configurations. Each model comes with a unique diameter of round pen designed to best suit that model. Priefert’s 4-horse walker features a 42’ diameter round pen, the 6-horse model features a 52’ diameter round pen, and the 8-horse model features a 72’ diameter round pen. Many users opt to select the popular 6-horse model with an upgrade to a 72’ round pen.
Round Pen
Priefert round pen panels are designed to create a perfect circle for the walker to operate within. Each curved panel is a full 6' tall and made of heavy-duty 16 gauge quadraform tubing. Solid bottom sheeting along the bottom keeps the dirt in the track. Users can select panels with horizontal rail or with 2"x2" heavy-duty, 4 gauge wire mesh tops. The panels are connected using secure, horse-safe pin connections that place the connection point of the side of the panel away from the walking path. The walker round pen gate also includes a sheeted bottom and features a safety stop to prevent the gate from swinging into the walking path. Following assembly, the round pens are staked into place to prevent them from moving.
Round Pen Drag
Save time in maintenance and improve the consistency of your ground with Priefert's optional round pen drag. The most popular add-on item, this drag is engineered to be light enough to easily move around by hand, but strong enough to maintain the path of the walker. The dual side drag has the ability to move dirt from inside to out or outside in, while leveling the ground on every rotation. This drag is easily attached to the bottom of a single hanging panel with simple brackets and chains. By eliminating ruts with the drag, the surface of the conditioning track will be more consistent and enhance the effects of the overall workout.
The round pen drag works well in most true dirt-based footings, but is not designed for use in rubber or micro fiber-based materials. The recommended speed of the walker is approximately 2 miles per hour for dragging.
*Never use a drag with horses in the round pen.
See MoreControl Box
Users have the option to select Priefert’s standard push button control box or the touchscreen control box. Each option is contained in a weather-resistant metal housing featuring a UV laminate to help protect against the deteriorating effects of the sun. Both boxes are user-friendly and include a wireless remote control that allows the user to adjust the speed and direction of the walker. The Push Button Control Box features large, labeled buttons. The time control switch offers a 15, 30, or 60 minute run time. Additional buttons allow the user to increase or decrease the speed, and to change the direction of the walker. The Touchscreen Control Box provides users with the option to program automated workouts by saving up to 20 different pre-programmed routines with up to 12 steps per routine. Each can be customized by speed, direction, and duration, to provide the appropriate level of exercise for a variety of horses.
Control Box Pedestal
The optional control box pedestal is designed to house either control box option. Installation requires a concrete anchor bolt kit, allowing the pedestal to be placed next to the horse walker or in a separate location depending on the owner’s preference. The sleek design allows the conduit to run inside the stand, hiding it from view. The pedestal features an architectural grade powder coat finish and comes with pre-drilled mounting brackets for the control box.
Sprinkler System
The optional sprinkler system enhances the drag's effectiveness and helps maintain an ideal moisture level to reduce dust and achieve an optimal footing consistency. Simply attach any outdoor water hose to the walker's sprinkler hookup and you are ready to go.
